Why cycle this route?

The inland Emporda offers a wide range of medieval villages in close proximity to each other.

On this route you will feel part of the history of the territory, you will arrive by roads with little traffic to each of the villages and you will be able to pedal through its almost deserted streets during the week ending at “Mare de Deu dels Angels Sanctuary” built at the one of the highest points of the Gavarres massif. It is an important pilgrimage center and it offers an extraordinary panoramic view of Girona, the Baix Empordà, the Medes Islands, the Pyrenees, the Montseny and the Guilleries. Salvador Dalí and Gala got married there on August 8, 1958.

Description

The perfect route to enjoy the Costa Brava. Its name "Brave" reaches in this route its maximum expression.

Leaving Tossa de Mar, the first kilometers are steep uphill until you reach kilometer 7 where the terrain glides and resembles a snake which prevents reaching speeds but at the same time, allows you to enjoy the scenery.

The road runs along the coast and the route allows you to enjoy the cliffs that end in the Mediterranean Sea.

Fortunately, the asphalt is of excellent quality and between weeks there is hardly any traffic.
